Metallic blasting media have metal surfaces just like the blasting material itself. During the blasting process, there is constant contact between the two. This provides a very intensive opportunity for oils and greases to transfer from the blasting material to the blasting medium and vice versa. 

The fatal result is initially an even distribution of these impurities throughout the entire process - similar to an infection. This results in contamination of the blasting medium, the blasting material, the blasting system and, last but not least, the filter media of the filter systems.
